October 12

Kirk has just been hanging out today. He sat up for a while and promptly fell asleep. Maybe it's my company. Ha. I was singing to him earlier and he told me I needed to stop.

I went to church this morning and Sidney is with her girl friend from Katy. Tomorrow is a school holiday so she will be with them until mid-day tomorrow. She also has her post operative follow up with her eye doctor tomorrow. What she will want to hear is that she can swim, but I don't think it will happen this week.

Sidney's friend brought a beautiful card full of love from the Girls Scouts. Kirk was a troop leader for three years and the girls truly love him. I have included a picture of the card.

Tomorrow starts week seven of our journey. We will see what a new week will bring. Maybe it will bring being able to stand!! That would be fabulous.

Sidney when asked by a friend to make up a story about shampoo. “There once was a very lonely bottle of shampoo. She was the only bottle of shampoo still at the store because the humans had bought all the other bottles. The lonely bottle of shampoo was sad and hopped off the shelf and hopped away because she couldn’t run, she didn’t have legs. She met a bottle of conditioner and they fell in love and got married. They had a baby and named her 2 in 1."

After visiting the San Antonio zoo and being bored because she has been to too many zoos and seen too many wild animals "We went to the Australian exhibit and they didn't even have a Kookaburra (Australian bird) and that offended me greatly." (Our zoo snob)

In Austria when she and Kimber were going to a wine museum "A wine museum really. What will they have next, a museum for cucumbers."

In Austria when fussed at for being rowdy and irritating "I can't help it, I have been cooped up in a castle all day." All of our practices were in a castle.

At the Gym "Mom there are two bottles in the locker room labeled mouthwash. I mixed some from each to rinse my mouth. There were a lot of bubbles and it tasted bad." One bottle was actually soap mis-labeled as mouthwash. Poor thing got her mouth washed out with soap and she was being good.

Sidney "Is Hungary close to Turkey because if it was, that would be really bad for Turkey."

Sidney's bible trivia "Is the Noah in Noah's Ark the same Noah as in the belly of the whale?"

San Antonio is a military town. There are a lot of military bases here. Sidney "And the Alamo is here."

While passing a semi full of fire hydrants on the way to San Antonio, Sidney "Dogs would be getting into a lot of trouble on that truck."

Kimber brought some snacks back from Norway. Sidney: "What are these?" Kimber: "Bacon snacks." Sidney: "What flavor?"

Sidney: "What is immunity?" Mom: "When you can't get sick from something, like you can't get the mumps because you have been immunized." Sidney: "And Shandy (our cat) has been evacuated." Mom: "I think you mean vaccinated."

Sidney: "Plants eat Hummus". Dad: "I think you mean plant eat pumice. And they don't eat it, they grow in it".

Sidney went to camp the Friday after school ended and was telling me about her experiences that day. She said,"And everyone got a chance to milk a cow." Then she was quiet for a minute, thinking, then asked, "Daddy, can you milk a boy cow?"

Sidney: "Just go with the flow Mom" while making dad a chocolate milk served with a grape on the side of the glass.

Sidney: "Oh more eyes to add to my eye collection in the drawer" each night when a new towel animal was left in our room on our recent cruise.

Sidney when riding the elevator up to my office in Poland: "Mom, I really miss cleaning the elevator at our apartment in Norway. It was fun."

Sidney: "When are you going to buy me that tape bubble gum?"

Dad: "Probably never."

Sidney: "But what if I use my own money?"

Dad: "Still probably never."

Sidney: "But Dad, I am trying to persuade you to do it."

Sidney: "You can't throw my stuff away, it's God's law."

Sidney: "Why do yo always hurt my feelings?"

Mom: "Because you are sensitive."

Sidney's Joke: "If you step in front of a 'tram' you might get 'tram'pled!"

Sidney: "A and earphones."

Daddy: "Those are the Greek letters 'Alpha' and 'Omega' ( Α Ω )."

Kimber: "Were you born in a barn?"

Sidney: "No. Kids are not born in a barn. They are born in the hospital. Jesus is the only one that was born in a barn."
